Early Spring Garden Tour – Zone 5 Gardening – Early Planting with Raised Bed Hoop House
Welcome to my garden, Tim! In this Early Spring Garden Tour – Zone 5 Gardening, we’ll be taking a tour of my early spring garden in zone 5. You’ll learn about the different techniques I use to get a head start on the growing season, including using a raised bed hoop house and starting seeds indoors. We’ll also discuss the different types of vegetables I’m growing and how I’m preparing my beds for planting.
A Variety Of Cool Weather Vegetables
As you’ll see in the video, I’ve planted a variety of crops, including lettuce, arugula, kale, broccoli, onions, carrots, Swiss chard, beets, and strawberries. I’ve also got potatoes, herbs, and tomatoes on the deck, as well as corn and cucumbers in the hoop house.
Planning And Timing are Critical
One of the key strategies I use to maximize my yields is to plant different varieties of each crop that will mature at different times. This way, I can enjoy fresh produce from my garden throughout the season. I also make sure to choose varieties that are well-suited to my climate and soil type, and I take care to prepare my beds with compost and mulch to provide the plants with the nutrients they need to thrive.
